_Soil
- Denman Island holds very fertile soil. Our soil is located in the complex region, providing good growth for the agriculture. It is very dense and wet, some times in the year the soil becomes dry due to the precipitation rate. Denman island consists of brown podzolic soils which claim to be the most visual striking soils! Great for growth and to look at!
Vegetation
- Our National park actually holds some of the tallest and thickest trees in Canada! How cool is that? Denman Cove is located in the west coast forest region. Some of the trees that are located onsite consist of Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock, Western Red Cedar, and huge Old Growth Fir!
Eco-zone
- The Eco-zone the island is located in is called Pacific Maritime. You can find lots of farming, fishing and tourism in Denman Island, especially Denman Cove, this Eco-zone holds 2 thirds of British Columbia's population making it 2.5 million people in one zone! The forestry industry is quite big in this Eco-zone, one out of 5 jobs in this zone are related to forestry!Minor human activities include totem pole making, cruise ships and barges. The economic factor is heavily dependent transportation, large cargo ships and other boats use up the pacific maritime's waterways.
